PAMED’s Everyday Hero Award, launched in 2018, is designed to showcase talented physicians who go above and beyond in their profession and in providing patient care.

“This award is an inspiration for me to be a better physician and person,” Mainali said. “It reflects the teamwork in the Division of Pediatric Neurology which includes hard working nurses, admins and care coordinators. I am accepting this on behalf of all of us as ‘Everyday Heroes.’”

Mainali says she joined Penn State Health to continue to grow in her position as a doctor and educator, adding she enjoys teaching and learning from medical students and residents.

“As a clinician, I see patients with various neurological needs. My special interest is in pediatric stroke and working to establish a pediatric stroke program at Penn State,” Mainali said. “I enjoy working as a team with medical providers and families, who I involve in making decisions in the best interest of their child.”

Mainali joined Penn State Health in 2013 after completing her Pediatric Neurology fellowship. She received her medical degree at Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Nepal and finished her pediatric residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, in Brooklyn, New York and her pediatric neurology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland, Ohio. She has also been published in various peer-reviewed journals and given talks regionally and nationally.
